Hellllloooo peoplee I’m alive! hahah. I’m having my one month semester break now. Feels so good to be at home here. Yippeee.

This post should be up 2 weeks ago, but I was just too lazy to update LOL. Anyway, Dingo and I went for a dinner at Ampang Look Out Point, KL after our summatives. I’ve heard about this place quite some time ago, people were saying how beautiful the scenery was yadda yadda and then somemore one day I saw milkadeal having this “3 course dinner for 2 @RM45 instead of RM90” so I bought the coupon and decided to check out what’s the hype about this place.

Thanks to the GPS we managed to find the place without getting lost at all! hahah

It was very windy and misty at the hilltop, quite chilling too coz it rained earlier that afternoon.

Our 3 course dinner was “Soup of the day”, garden salad,

and a main course. I chose some Portugese styled fish thingy, Dingo chose Chicken cordon bleu.

Food was so-so. Normal only lah. Salad was….UHMZ. eww. took a few bites and decided to give up :S

Scenery was pretty good, though I think Penang Hill’s one is waaaaay better.

Conclusion: No 2nd visits for me (I think) hahah. It’s a good place for a bunch of friends to hang out and chillax though. :)

Orientation recap + capalang

HAHA huiwen I’m still alive okay LOL. Anyway, as the title suggests, this post will be on orientation + some other stuff I did in this 2 months (almost!!) here. Loads of photos ahead! (Directly saved from facebook, Thanks to the seniors :D )

Did you know IMU is notoriously infamous for its orientation?? HAHA

Ice Breakers at the atrium. This is the dry icebreakers. Wet icebreakers was held at the basement carpark, no photos though. Wet icebreakers was pretty disgusting, lots of fish oil involved.

indoor treasure hunt! where everyone had to run around in IMU from station to station and search for clues.

Our group name was TriBEW (Tri= triple, Bew= short form for “W”) rotate “W 90 degrees to the left and it looks like 3 so the whole name is like triple 3 (For group 3 YAY)

Outdoor treasure hunt.

Super smelly + tiring

No matter you win or lose you have to do silly stuff like erm pole dancing….???

The guys had to get their bodies “oiled” by girls and then stand on the rocks and pose while the rest of the group members play the game.

Get Flour + oil + curry powder on your hair. This was the worst station for me cause of the duck walk my legs were omgmcdkfcperiperipongpongpiang sore for the next 3 or 4 days.

See that shirt over her eyes. It had been soaked in durian chiap + leaves + chinese ink + sweat of shirt’s owner + whatevershitnot previously. Gross right

And those markings on the body/shirts, yep they were done by the seniors/stationers. They’ll randomly come up to you and just start scribbling everywhere.

This is me being carried through the “spider web”. We weren’t supposed to touch any strings so yeah. wth HAHA

We were one of the first few groups to complete all the stations. yippee

Variety night- Variety Music Awards.

Groups were given a song and required to do a 3-5 minutes performance. Ours was Toxic by Britney Spears. We did a dance routine + stomp. And I can say we did pretty well! The video’s on facebook! go watch!

Dress code- Glee

Each group is to come up with a stage performance combining a Glee song and movie. Our group got Bad Romance + Mulan. Some other groups got (if not mistaken) Teenage dream + Iron man , Fireworks + Batman??? HAHA.

Finale night.

Theme was slumber party.

We were just there to relax and watch the seniors perform.

So basically that’s about orientation.

#1 Meeting for charity home visit

Fund raising event at the driveway for the homes we were going to visit. It’s like a food fair.

Charity Home Visit – RACTAR (Rumah Amal Cahaya Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Selangor Darul Ehsan)

It’s an all-girls home for the poor + orphans

Did some performances for them, organised games, brought food etc etc

A new beginning

As most of my friends know, I’ve flown to KL to continue my studies at IMU.

Had 2 weeks of orientation. Man, it was CRAZY. I’ll cover that in the next post.

This post is on Enrolment Day a.k.a. first day of orientation.

Luckily Dingo is here also, at least I don’t feel like a lonely retard. Hahah Some of my college mates are here too, Lem, Joe. I think that’s all :((

My very supportive family came all the way down to attend my Enrolment Day. Yippee. But Chen had to prepare for exams so he stayed back in Penang. :((

Basically the Enrolment Day Programme includes collection of white coat by new students, the Pledge of Professionalism, photo ID session and some briefing.

Went to the Penang CNY Cultural & Heritage Celebration yesterday with Apple and Dingo.

It was our first time there! :O

Apparently it is an annual event and is held at the Penang’s UNESCO World Heritage Site a.k.a. Georgetown.

There were already loads of people thronging the streets as early as 4pm.

We were walking and walking and walking and suddenly Dingo told me he saw a stall selling really cute stuff. I was suspicious at first (thinking that it might be frogs WTF) but then I saw these!

After weeks and weeks and weeks of rotting at home, playing all kinds of nonsense like restaurant city and baking life, I finally got my ass kicking and went for a hike at the Penang National Park. I don’t think many people know about it but anyway it’s located at Teluk Bahang.

Our main destination was Pantai Kerachut, but to reach there, you must first hike up a hill. :O It’s my second visit there, the first was 5 years ago. hahah

After about 1 ++ hours of huffing and puffing, we finally reached the beach. yipppeee

This is the red bridge connecting the hill to the bridge. Underneath it is the meromictic lake, which has 2 layers of water with different temperatures. Apparently it is only visible for six months of the year. The top layer is the cooler fresh water while the lower layer is the warmer salt water.

And it’s very very very very clean. hohoho

What i love most about this place is that people rarely go there (I know for sure that lazy people won’t HAHAHA). This is what you see when you reach.

Human-less. LOL.

The place is very clean, sand’s a bit coarse though. But good for the feet! Mine actually felt smoother after spending 2 hours there. Maybe I should use the sand as face scrub. HAHA.

We actually planned to have a boat ride back, but then it costs rm100 per boat, and there are only four of us, so we hiked all the way back again. BOO.

Strawberry Forever

I heard that there’s this new dessert cafe called Strawberry Forever next to Burger King Penang so my few friends and I went to check it out yesterday.

It’s located at the Jelutong expressway, facing the sea, somewhere near the four very tall (~~and very ugly~~) blue pillars.

I have no idea why is it called a dessert cafe. Only one page of the menu is about desserts. The rest is about snacks, healthy salads, udon bla bla as you can see in the pic below. LOL

Overall I think the food is kind of overpriced, heck one teeny weeny slice of cake costs RM8.90 at least and goes up to RM10.90. super diao geh lor. Even Starbucks/Secret Recipe’s cake is cheaper (and tastier I suppose) cheh. Sad to say, I don’t think that I would pay it another visit. I’d rather go have Charmy Snow Ice. (CHARMY!!! :D)

Happy 2011 everyone!

Was down with weird food poisoning two days ago and fever yesterday. Some serious vomiting going on, 10 times in about 4 hours in fact. :O And the worst part was I already started vomiting bile (oh you mighty bile) from the 2nd time onwards!! Couldn’t even drink water to get rid of the bitterness in my throat, or else I’d just vomit everything out again. And I’ve never felt so dehydrated in my whole life. :O

Didn’t sleep well the whole night. Even met chen twice during midnight at the toilet (he was vomitting too, lucky I prepared plastic bags by my bedside or else I would have made some artistic/abstract painting (4d effect somemore got smell HAHAHA ok not funny) on the floor.

Anyway, I’ve recovered now, my appetite’s back again, not completely but still a drastic improvement compared to yesterday. (HOHO even had curry mee this morning HAHA super shiok). You know it feels so darn good to be healthy again. And so this leads to my first new year wish, STAY HEALTHY people. STAY HEALTHY.

Ok and that’s the end of my new year wish list. OMG HAHAHA wth.

Most of the shops there are restaurants/bistros/cafes with weird and funky names. The more familiar ones are Secret Recipe, Dome, Subway (Had Chicken Terriyaki noms noms), Starbucks (not opened yet). And there’s one Chinese restaurant called“cheeky duck”. say it 10 times. Catchy huh? hahah

Btw we had Swenson’s ice cream while waiting for Dakai and Eric to come. RM5 per scoop. Tried Banana Split and Sticky Chewy Chocolate. NOMS.

Not to forget, thanks to those who came (although the first to arrive, excluding shihun, was almost 3 hours late. I have punctual friends WTH) Had fun with the helium balloons, polar-bearing, “bicycling” (OUU theresa huhuhu), lame jokes with apple (cubit the lychee HAHA), 赏月 and eating orange jellies with huimei and junling. Thanks for the birthday song (the loudest one as far as I can remember hahah), the presents, staying up till 12am to wish me hehehuhu :D

Special thanks to both of my bestest friends who couldnt make it to the party, See Man, who sms-ed me for the entire day, bombarding me with more than 10 phone calls (6 of them were miss calls HAHAHA OMG oops) and also to ZH who is in faraway China, thanks for the sms, really didnt expect it as you already wished me the night before you went to China, which was a week ago, huhuhu.

And now I’m going to spend my birthday (on the real date itself), rotting at home, playing hotel city, restaurant city AND doing IELTS exercises. WTH. Byez! :D

Not so cute anymore eh? HAHAHAHA poor little doggie.

I thought that it was going to be a disaster (dogs+water=KABOOM) but it turned out not thaaat bad as i expected. hahah she did struggle a few times, but distract her with some snacks and she’ll be fine. She didn’t freak out when we brought her to the bathroom too. good doggie yay hahah

Time to blow her dry.

The entire process (bathing + blow drying) took up about half an hour (maybe more :O)

tsk tsk tsk. at least 2 persons are required to get the job done.

We can now haz a cute and fluffy snowball !!

A healthy dose of fresh air

Apple called me up for an evening jog at Botanical Gardens last Sunday. The weather was great, it rained in the afternoon, it wasn’t too hot, so i thought why not? Called up Dingo and ZH as well. But Dingo claimed to be lazy that evening so only ZH turned up. hahah.

Must have-s at the Gardens. Ice cream potong! nom nom nom.

In the gardens. mm hmm. soooothhing.

I think this train is supposed to bring tourists round the garden. But I don’t really see the point of it? I’m not sure but it seemed like there wasn’t like a tour guide or something to explain the names of trees/flowers yaddah yaddah. oh btw it’s moving so slowly I can actually walk faster than it YAY WTH.

Spotted a waterfall somewhere. We had to climb down a slope (where we saw a diaper YES a DIAPER, with erm, mountains of you-kno-what in it) Actually I don’t find the gardens very clean either. :O

Anyway, I did my first ever 2 hour facial this afternoon. It was soooo relaxing but not till the part when the lady squeezed out all my blackheads and whatever yucky stuff living inside my skin. pain max. walao. But then it felt sooo good again when she gave me a massage and slabbed like 1 inch thick of yummy goodness on my skin. YUMS. my skin feels smooth now. YAY.

After happily deleting our annoying alarms in our phones, we had to un-delete them again for one day as we decided to go up to Air Itam dam the next morning. What a good way to start our 3 month long holidays :D

Besides, I thought that it would be a great time for me to test some of the picture controls (actually i only tested one of them wth) in my camera. Lots of photos to feed you, all (unless I say otherwise) straight from the camera (so you know the power of picture controls HOHO people with DSLRs out there go experiment with those picture control thingys dont be so stupid always use normal then start blaming and cursing your poor camerans and lenses for producing lousy colours.

You’ll actually be amazed what your camera can do, if, you use it properly. :D

I even had to desaturate some of them WTH fail max LOL.

tip tip: I noticed that I always get bluish green cast in my pictures in places with lots of foliage. To get rid of them, set your bloody auto white balance to cloudy. It gives a warmer tone. I used cloudy here.

YIPEEEEEEE now I can say that I’ve officially graduated from HSC!

No more exams till….oh wait. There’s still IELTS. LOL nevermind.

Anyway, the external exam just ended today, meaning I can shake my legs and butt for about 3 months. :O

See Man dropped by today and we had lunch at…..

SUBWAY.

To be honest, I don’t really fancy the food there, had a really bad impression of it during my first visit few years back in e-gate. However many friends of mine told me how heavenly it was and so I decided to give it a second chance. My second visit was at KLCC. had the turkey breast thingy and I hated it. It was too dry AND too SALTY for my liking. And I vowed never to touch any of Subway’s food anymore.

Not till today.

See Man, all the way from Pahang (she’s doing her Matrics there btw) requested to have Subway for lunch. So I had no choice but to go. HAHAHAHA

And surprisingly, I kinda erm…LIKED IT? Or maybe I was too hungry at that time so anything would have tasted good for me. WTH.

YUMS.

Today’s flavour was smoked turkey. I ordered the 6-inch one hearty italian bread+smoked turkey+cheese+Cucumbers+vege+all sauces.

NOM NOM NOM.

However I still find the sauce a little salty, but not as salty as the 2nd time i had it.

Awesome. Gonna try its breakfast set one day. (Cause they have eggs HAHAAHA)

It’s a must try! MUST MUST MUST cause once you do you’ll get addicted to it forever. and ever. and EVER.

I don’t even know how to describe its texture. It’s not ice (as in ice kacang ice), It’s not ice cream (as in ice cream cream WTH). It’s something like erm……shaved ice. (WTH is there any difference between shaved ice and ice kacang. =__=)

zhong zhi leh hor, it’s a very very very “halus” version of ice kacang. if that makes sense. WTH. AIYA see for yourself in the pics la. (If you can actually see it wth)

It comes in many many flavours, green tea, coffee, milk, strawberry, lychee, mango and the latest one, kiwi.

MANGO’S my favouriteeeeee!

Each flavour comes with toppings eg: green tea with redbean toppings, coffee with nuts + chocolate, mango with mango(fruit) cubes etc etc etc.

and each of those costs RM4.90 :O :O (quite reasonable right? I mean, seeing that it’s the best snow ice i’ve tasted before. :O)

HAHAHA Okay If you’re in Penang be sure to try this bowl/cup of heavenly goodness!

The store’s 100 Yen, located somewhere near the Bukit Jambul roundabout. Liddis (OOH Google’s crazy. in a good way. I just typed 100 yen Penang and BAM this came out hahahah)

Got bored reading ESL so I started digging out some old photos to look at.

This is me in March 2010. HAHAHA maybe i should consider cutting my hair again.

Don’t know what’s wrong with us Chinese school students. We complain and complain about schools not allowing us to have long hair but once we graduate we itch to get our hairs cut. Especially when our hairs reach the “stunted growth/plateau phase i.e shoulder-length”

I don’t know why, but I feel that I’ve been more and more observant towards nature (when i say nature, i mean skies and tress and clouds. NOT disgusting insects or frogs or monitor lizards eww) ever since i got my camera. And now it’s becoming a habit that the first thing i do in the morning before I go to college is to look at the skies. =O And I’ve been sleeping less and less in the car too! (well partly, cause now that I’m driving on my own i need to recognise the roads. So much for my lousy navigation skills. =O )

Anyway, here’s one gorgeous rainbow spotted outside college one morning.

And another one on the next day! You can see it peeking through the clouds. heeheh shy ;p

ps: I wonder why rainbows keep appearing outside college. Perhaps it’s a sign for us HSC students that we have hope to pass our coming external exam with erm flying colours. you know. rainbows=colours in the sky=flying colours? WTH. =__=

I went to Eastin Hotel today to help out taking photos of Yamaha’s concert (that would be covered in the next post, hopefully, i think. hahah). Anyway, thanks to Dingo’s electone teacher, Miss Cindy for the treat today, at Eastin’s cafe thingy and also at TGIFs. ;p

It was my first time to the hotel. It’s quite a new place, and the lobby smelt really nice. WTH.

Yay to dessert pyramid. :D

Just as I was thinking “argh sod this little window I can’t get the angles I want, should have sat in front”, something made me turn my head back and WOW. It still fascinates me why dingo loves red so much, instead of the stereotypical saying that“boys love blue girls love pink”. For him it’s red red red red merah merah hong hong (HUAT AHH wth) all the way.

you guys should check out his wardrobe. All his clothes are sooo red that they make your eyes bleed and set your body on fire. The last time i counted he had 10 red shirts, 4 or 5 yellows, 2 oranges, 2 whites, 1 black. (something like that) the end. If it wasn’t for the green Kappa shirt we gave him for his birthday i think he’ll never ever buy shirts of the other side of the colour wheel. (oh yes I’d be grateful to see him in PURPLE or BLUE (HOW CAN YOU NOT HAVE A BLUE SHIRT???) one day)

Miss Yellow Shoes

Little miss yellow shoes had been one of my closest friends since i was fourteen. She is still very much the same when i first knew her, cute and funny, except for the fact that she has a “new brain” now (or at least that’s what she says hahah ok actually you have to tune in to a “different frequency” to know what she means.)

A few of us (theresa, rick, zhihong, dingo) decided to go to Suffolk’s house for a photoshoot and great i just realised i DO NOT have ANY pictures of suffolk’s house. =__=)

I nearly wanted to get this pair of shoes. Actually i was deciding between the red or yellow one but didn’t buy it in the end. hahah

Or at least that’s what the literal translation from the chinese name of this erm…unique restaurant.

I was down in KL last Saturday with my family and we decided to have some..weird seafood for dinner at the..unique seafood restaurant.

This place obviously lives up to its name, well, as you can see later.

When you first step into this unique restaurant, you will be greeted by these two humongous (and very unique WTH) fishies, hanging/dangling from the ceiling.

I think that’s a bit freaky. :S

And then…be prepared to be awed by their rows and rows of unique sea creatures…waiting to be served on your dining table…

They practically have everything from the sea, imported or not, you name it and they’ve got it.

WHOOOPS i just realised that i’ve not been blogging for almost a…WEEK! =O

Hahahaha anyway I decided to go JOGGING with dingo and zhihong one fine morning…God knows since when i HAVEN’T been exercising. (Since I graduated from form 5???? =O =O )

So YAYY i jogged and jogged(okay more like WALKING), got shocked by some mad dogs and a flock of pigeons and a bloody disgusting iguana, and 1 hour later i was already exhausted, huffing and puffing, whining all the way down the what i call “Sungai Ara Hill” (You know the slope thingy with houses there wth. I guess the sungai araians will know where it is)

Went to Gurney yesterday with Dingo, ZH, LS and HM. Was kinda last minute. =O

WOOOO AND I DROVE TO GURNEYZZZ. hahaha wth bangga sial wth. so now the furthest place i’ve drove to is…GURNEY. and not INTI anymore. =O

Eric celebrated his 18th birthday 3 weeks back..

(WOW i only realised that it had been such a long time ago :O )

A whole 20 + of us were invited to his house to celebrate his birthday with him.

Eric’s super happy cause he’d received lots and lots and lots of surprises for his birthday.

One of them failed so badly, which is the one in INTI. We were supposed to bring in the cake halfway through his physics class but then, of all time, he chose the moment, ZE MOMENT, to come out of class to go to the toilet. And we were actually lighting up the candles, JUST RIGHT OUTSIDE OF THE PHYSICS LAB that time.

=_______= epic fail max.

Anyway, Eric received his “dream present”, which was a Sony MP4 Player. Connie and the A-Levels people even made him a card, a little book in fact. You can see it later down there, in one of the pictures. hahah. Huimin was also sweet enough to make him a slideshow. wheeeee :)

As kiasu Penangites, the six of us (Dingo, Liang Sun, Zhi Hong, See man, Huimei and I) braved the massive Friday jam and drove around 30km away from home to get some good dinner.

After an hour of jem jem jam jam jem we finally reached our destination!

All the way in Raja Uda, Butterworth. =D

It’s my second visit there actually. Thanks to Liang Sun who recommended this place. According to him, they serve the best tom yam and lalaz.

It’s a very big place…with cute little huts…

Btw this is only like a teeeny weeeeny part of the entire restaurant…D=

Went to BM for steamboat with my family few days back.

Tian and Jie are back from KL so it was some sorta reunion dinner thingy.

The place is called “Hooi Kee”…and it’s the only place which (in my opinion) offers the tastiest steamboat (not like those kind cheap jeng eh 2 in one bbq + steamboat thingys)

Poor fish. hahaha

Right after the movie, we went to Jubilee to set up the hall for the SPCA food fair the next day.

Worked (meaning arranging the tables, wiping the chairs, wrapping the tables with plastic..etc etc) till 11 something pm. My poor fingers. :(

and I was already starving like mad cause i just ate 6 miserable ketuls of nuggets in the cinema for dinner?? O.o

Was supposed to go to station one for supper, but it was full house—it was the Germany vs. Argentina match that night.

So we ended up in TGIF. :D

Kaypo me went to do some Kaypo stuff (as my mum says it) last Sunday.

Went to Dewan Sri Pinang last Friday to watch IICP’s drama performance “Get Smart”.

Decided to test out some bokeh shots.

ahahah for those who are wondering how i get these shots, it’s really simple actually.

Just set your camera to manual focus (If your camera allows it), point at some colourful lightbulbs, turn the focusing ring clockwise/anticlockwise till your photo gets extremely out of focus/till you get the shape or size of bokeh you want , and press the shutter button.

You can try out different apertures too! :)

Let me tell you a story of the double dees. (Dad & D90)

anywayz, the pictures you’re gonna see later were taken way back last December, when dad bought me the camera. :) :)

(sorry for the bad quality, i took these directly from FB hehe)

Dad, you have no idea how delighted I was when you finally decided to buy me the camera.

I still remembered that all of us were at Sunway Pyramid that time.

While we were walking, you suddenly put your arms around my shoulder and said to me “Qi..everyone got their present already (Jie got her HTC, Chen got his SAMSUNG, wei got his cybershot), what do you want?”

What do I want? ~~The million dollar question that resulted in my million dollar answer. MUAHAHA~~

I’ve been yearning for a DSLR since……..i dunno when. ahahha but whenever i told you about it, you were always so reluctant to buy me one. You said that it’s bulky, and unpractical. :p

I went like “heeee..hehehe…huhu..heeee” *sheepish* and then jie or tian told him “AIYA she wants DSLR la”. And i continued heeeeeheeehuhuhu-ing. wth.

To my surprise, he said “OOO let’s go to the shop lah! see stil got onot! (It was already nearly 10pm and many shops were closing already)

and I was like. O.o!!!!! O.o!!!! WHAAT? *digs ears*

So we came to this Fotokem shop, and wheeee it’s still open! (well, half-open). Immediately i sms-ed dingo to ask him which was “the” NIKON model. (wth i was sooo overly excited that i sent the msg to dad. wth and had to immediately seize his phone from him to delete the msg WTH. siasuay.) So I told my dad D90. (HAHAHAHA now you know why i kena con. I never did research on the camera at all. HAHAHA nvm la ppl say everyone who buy dslr sure kena con for at least one time eh wth hahaha)

So after some tawar-menawar with the guy, I got the camera. :D :D :D :D

(Dad can be very xiao sha sometimes. and I think i’ve somehow inherrited his xiao sha-ness when buying things. eg: sb900 diffuser WTH somemore kena scold by dingo T__T)

So that was how I got the camera.

A very happy meeee. YAY.

We were both wearing yellow one day. And dad requested for a “couple” picture. WTH. somemore say must hug me from the back. HAHAHAHAHAHAH
